Space Explorer Sim
Credits & data sources
Space Explorer Sim uses a custom WebGL space simulation engine. Its procedural planets, stars, moons and galaxy populations are illustrative simulations, not observations. In-game images for the project website are taken from the simulator.
Observed galaxies
Selected galaxy records are adapted from OpenNGC, by Mattia Verga, under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. Source information includes galaxy coordinates, classifications and photometry, transformed for simulator display. Original OpenNGC acknowledgements include NED, HyperLEDA and SIMBAD. OpenNGC source. The Milky Way is represented separately; procedural galaxies are simulated.
Some familiar nearby galaxies use approximate published distances from NASA/Hubble material. Other displayed distances may be model-derived approximations and should not be treated as precise measurements.
Supplemental stars
Supplemental observed star records are adapted from HYG Star Database v4.1 (Astronomy Nexus / David Nash), under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. Position, distance, naming and magnitude fields were adapted for the simulator. HYG source. Additional curated named-star values are illustrative reference entries.
Confirmed exoplanets
This project has made use of the NASA Exoplanet Archive, operated by the California Institute of Technology under contract with NASA. Archive data informs documented confirmed exoplanets; generated worlds and physical appearances remain illustrative. See the archive acknowledgement guidance.
Solar System reference values
Approximate orbital and physical parameters are informed by NASA/JPL Solar System Dynamics. Visual orbits and renderings are not precision ephemerides and may be simplified.
Compact objects and scientific descriptions
Named neutron stars, pulsars and black holes use scientific publications and approximate reference values. Visual effects, procedural planetary systems and other illustrative objects should not be interpreted as measured physical reconstructions.
Original project artwork and audio
Planetary surface textures, navigator portraits and the interface were created for Space Explorer Sim with AI-assisted artwork and development workflows. The official gameplay screenshots were captured from the simulator. Player-selected local music remains on the player's own device.
